I had my schooling from Sainik School, Imphal and for college I went to Elphinstone College, Bombay now called Mumbai. I started taking drugs from very early age of school, from 1975 while I was at my 6th Standard. I started from pain killer tablets - we called them "downers" and started injecting Morphine from October 1978. Because of the scarcity of Morphine in the open market, that time, we started using/shifted to Heroin since 1982 which was newly coming into our Home State Manipur from the Golden Triangle through Moreh ( our border town with Burma now called Myanmar.) I was into drugs (Heroin) for a long time and finally gave up in 1999 after coming Delhi for my first and only de-addiction (rehabilitation) process. After that I never ever have taken any drug. But by the time, due to my high risk behavior of injecting drugs by sharing needles & syringes with every known addicts I came across during my early addiction days, I infected by HIV. I'm a known HIV+ive since last 17 years & on regular ART (Anti Retro Viral Treatment). Since 2000 after I became clean and cure of my drug addiction, I have been trying till date to get back into the mainstream. My motto is to make people aware about the sufferings of drugs & injection addiction. To assist persons who want to come out from addiction habit, by helping them to get their confidence level raised. My dream is to empower & mainstreaming the HIV infected teenagers who have already lost their one or both parents and now facing the stigma from relatives & society. I appeal every one of you to make my hands stronger for the cause. Monetary donation is not the only way to support me, I request you to curtail some valuable time from your busy schedule to come at my office - understand the pain of an addict or a HIV+ive person (PLHIV- Person Living with HIV) when the stigmatized society compelled him to be ostracized, be play an active role to mainstream the infected & effected people.
